It may take some changes in your nightly routine. But seeing the outcome will make you want to appreciate the effort. Check out the various ways you and your children can do to help them sleep better every night.

Tip #1 – Set the Ambiance in their Bedtime

Make their beds cozy with comfy bedding and fluffy pillows. Use only night lights or ambient lighting an hour before sleeping, even if you read a bedtime story. You can also see to it that no unnecessary noises are heard in their rooms.

Tip #2 – Turn Off Screens Hours Before Going to Bed

Leave the gadgets outside of their bedroom to prevent temptations. Exposing themselves to the screen will only stimulate their minds and make it difficult for them to fall asleep. At the same time, it will disrupt their natural sleep cycle.

Tip #3 – Create a Nighttime Routine

When your kids get into the habit of a bedtime routine, their bodies will know when it is the right time to fall asleep.

For instance, start with a bath. Then, it is time to brush their teeth and floss. Putting on their favorite pajamas helps as well. If they love to hear a story, maybe tell a bedtime story or two. You can cap it off with a tuck in the bed and a kiss on the forehead.

Tip #4 – Be Strict with Their Diet

Did you know that the foods we eat influence our sleep? So do our children! If they love to snack on sugary and fatty foods and drinks at night, the tendency is that they will not fall asleep easily.

Look for foods and drinks that will promote a better sleep for your family every night. You can avoid fatty, sugary, and energy-boosting meals while prioritizing vegetables and fruits.

Tip #5 – Get Them to Exercise During the Day

Good exercise helps in having a good night’s rest afterward. Your child can start with 30 minutes of exercise each day to help them relax and get their bodies moving. It does not have to be rigorous, but simple activities will do.

Making sure our kids have the right amount of sleep can also put our minds at ease. Try following these tips above, and see if it works for your loved ones.
